This 100% soft cotton dhoti from Vrindavan (Vrndavana) India are the traditional dress of Indian and sadhus. Dhoti come with either a think blue line upper and top border or a think 3/4 inch blue top and bottom border. HOW TO PUT ON A DHOTI Standing up hang the dhoti over your shoulders with about 3/5 of the dhoti to the right and 2/5 of the dhoti to the left of your right should. Let the dhoti slide down to your waist and put the dhoti together at the top until it meets at the front part of your left hip. Tie the dhoti together at the top at this point Hold the top right corner of the end of the dhoti and fold the dhoti about eight inches at the top and then fold it back and forth eight inch each time for about six times or until it is even with your belly button. Stuff it in at the top of the folded area with it hanging in front of you. Stuff it in enought that it will stay in and the bottom part of the dhoti will be about an inch or two from the ground. You are now about 2/3 of the way done. Hold the left end of the dhoti hold both the top and bottom at the same time. Now starting on either side fold the dhoti about 5 to 6 inches. Then fold it in the opposite direction until the dhoti is about six inches wide and you are holding it and it is now in a long strip about three feet or so long. Take this long strip and put the top between your legs from the front to the back. Then tuck the end of the dhoti into the back of the dhotis in the middle of the back. Now in theory you are done, but you may still have to adjust things slightly to make sure everything looks even. |
